Redeveloping The Sands Leisure Centre

Commencing on site in November 2020, the redevelopment of The Sands Centre adds nearly 40,000 sq ft to the building, more than doubling the floorspace of the existing leisure facilities.

The new facilities, spread across two storeys and accessed via a bespoke internal ‘street’, include:

• Reception area
• Four-court Sport England specification sports hall
• 25m eight-lane swimming pool
• 20m learner pool with innovative moveable floor and spectator viewing area
• Wet and dry changing facilities
• 120-station gym and fitness suite
• Dance studios
• Café / bar
• NHS physiotherapy suite with consulting rooms

This redevelopment transforms the Sands Centre into a modern, multi-functional leisure hub catering to the community’s diverse sporting, fitness, and wellness needs.
