A new recycling depot providing local employment and places Cheshire East among the most environmentally friendly places in the UK.

Claywatt undertook this project for Cheshire East Council on the redundant Ideal Standard site in Middlewich, as part of a partnership with the North West Construction Hub.

The new depot enables the Council to increase recycling rates and minimise landfill use, delivering significant environmental and economic benefits for residents.

The project not only preserves existing jobs but is estimated to facilitate the relocation of up to 400 new jobs in Middlewich, while also reducing long-term operational costs.

The redeveloped depot now serves as the Borough’s main recycling centre and provides a new headquarters for Ansa Environmental Services, the Council’s operating company for recycling and streetscape services. The multi-use site supports a wide range of services, including street cleaning, grounds and parks maintenance, and transport and fleet maintenance.
