National Horizons Centre, Teesside University

Based at Teesside University, the new building provides teaching, learning, and collaboration spaces, alongside high-tech laboratories and a computing suite.

Completed in March 2019, the £22.3m flagship facility was designed to bring together education and industry, and is located alongside the National Biologics Manufacturing Centre and the University’s Centre for Professional and Executive Development on Darlington’s Central Park brownfield site.

The striking new building features a high-specification bespoke brick colonnade, a cantilevered roof, and specialist mechanical and electrical services. The facility’s fit-out caters for a range of laboratory conditions and uses, ensuring cutting-edge education and research capabilities.
