Project Overview
Sandwiched between three existing Grade I listed buildings, the original boiler house was demolished and rebuilt by Claywatt.
Together with adjacent refurbishments, the redevelopment created a double-height underground gallery, courtyard café, shop, education spaces, support facilities, and a new museum entrance.
The 1,100 sqm Sainsbury Gallery now stands as one of the UK’s largest column-free temporary exhibition spaces, transforming how the V&A Museum presents its exhibition programme.
